Bout of Books Wrap Up

Sadly we've come to the end of the Bout of Book 23 and the last Bout of Books of 2018. The next time we do this it will be January of 2019! I cannot even fathom January  at this point. It seems so far away! Imagine we will be through the holidays and into a new year!

Anyway, today I wanted to recap what I read during the Bout of Books readathon. This round of the readathon, in August, is always difficult for me because I work on a college campus. My work is really busy and I work extra hours. I work two weekends a year and the August edition of BoB usually falls on one of those weekends. This year I had a lot more success than I have in the past.

Books I didn't Finish

On Monday I started Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews. I've mentioned a few times that I am rereading the Kate Daniels series because the final book will be released at the end of this month. We are three days away!! This was a really easy read for me because I've read it once before. Since my brain is mush after work right now, I loved having this familiar story to read in the evening.

I also continued reading Hunting Prince Dracula. I picked this up a few times but ultimately I decided to put this aside during Bout of Books. I wanted to read this when I had time to devote to it and I don't right now!

I also started my annual reread of Persuasion. I downloaded to audiobook to try so we shall see if audio changes my views on this old favorite at all.

Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2) Magic Binds (Kate Daniels, #9) Persuasion

Books I Finished:

Would you believe I started and finished an audiobook in less than twenty four hours. I downloaded Alanna: The First Adventure on Wednesday night and since it was only five hours long I devoured most of it that night. I only had 30 minutes when I fell asleep that night. I finished it the next morning while I was eating breakfast. Finishing this book has made me anxious to reread all of Tamora Pierce's books. They were a huge part of my childhood and I enjoyed this reread immensely.

Beach Weekend Vlog

Recently I went beach camping with two friends and I roped them into a vlog! This isn't my best vlog. I wasn't feeling 100% while we were traveling, but I did have a lot of fun with my friends. Basically there were a lot of distractions event though I tried to vlog what we were up to. Maybe next time things will be a little more organized!

Summer Book Haul

This summer I did my best to avoid buying more books. I've talked before how I do not put book buying bans on myself, but this summer I did make an effort to read the books I already own. I think I did a good job too! I didn't buy any books in June at all! Check out what I picked up throughout the summer of 2018!

Top Ten Books to Pull Me Out of a Reading Slump

Welcome to my first Top Ten Tuesday in quite a while! I haven't done any of these in a few months I think. I could be wrong. We will find out soon when I look back at the blog to link up my last one which you can always find at the bottom of the post. If you want to check out the host of TTT head over to That Artsy Girl!

When I'm trying to avoid a reading slump or working to get out of one, I have several different methods. I pick up something familiar. In some cases this is a reread, and in others it is just a series I've already started. Usually that does the trick for me, but if I need more drastic measures, I pick up something that is the opposite of what I usually read. Today I've selected a lot of books I enjoyed and would definitely help me get out of a reading slump.

35271238 Rebel Mechanics The Abyss Surrounds Us (The Abyss Surrounds Us, #1) The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Montague Siblings, #1)Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1)

Letters to the Lost (Letters to the Lost, #1) My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies, #1) Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) Frigid (Frigid, #1)

Wow looking at them all together makes me want to pick them all up again!!

July Wrap Up (2018)

The month of July was quite busy. Once again July is the point where the summer picks up steam and never stops until September hits. Although I said June was crazy, July really hit me like a truck. I have no idea where the month went and it looks like August will be the same way since it is already the 12th and I'm only putting up my wrap up for July now!

This month I read eight books and I enjoyed every single one of them. I love it when I have reading months like I just had. It fuels my reading fire! If you want to see the books I read this month and my thoughts on them, check out my Wrap Up video below.

In July I participated in a few readathons. I was really excited that Misty's 30 Day Book Binge was going on this month. Knowing that is happening really motivates me to read more. I also wanted to participate in the sixth round of Tome Topple but things didn't work out the way I planned. I was so excited at the beginning of month I really got into instagraming the challenges. Sadly things fell off a bit once we got father into the readathon.

Currently Reading (Booktube Update)

Hello! It has been a little while since I updated you all on what I'm currently reading. The vlog I posted for July gave you an idea, but I've started a lot in the past week or so. I haven't finished a book yet in August, but I am getting very close!
